Fighting Against “The Silent Killer”
Every year WHO celebrates World Health Day on 7th of April. This year the theme is ” Beat Diabetes.”
How does a person generally react when diagnosed with diabetes? What are the gamut of emotions we see them go through? Grief, Anger, Anxiety, Despair?
But does it have to be this way?
I bring to you a young 25-year-old doctor, who despite of being diagnosed with this chronic illness in her childhood at the young age of 13, sets an example today to diabetics all over the world.
She leads a healthy and happy lifestyle. The girl who made a choice. A choice of controlling diabetes, instead of diabetes taking control over her.
She does not believe she has a ‘disease’.
She knows her body has a deficiency and simply makes certain adjustments in her diet and regular schedule to live the optimum best.
She wishes by sharing her story, she can inspire and motivate others to take control and not let diabetes control you. But to simply “grow from it”.
Watch Dr. Komal Kanitkar’s “Fight against THE SILENT KILLER” in her exclusive video interview with the Medical Students Association of India, that went viral on the WORLD HEALTH DAY 2016.
