Type 2 Diabetes is a metabolic condition where the pancreas isn’t producing enough insulin or the body is resistant to insulin.

 

Risk Factors:

  • A Family History of Diabetes
  • Being Overweight
  • Lack of Physical Activity
  • Fat Distribution
  • Pre-diabetes or Gestational Diabetes
  • Age/Race

 

Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes Includes:

  • Increased Thirst/Hunger
  • Frequent Urination
  • Weight Loss
  • Fatigue
  • Blurred Vision
  • Slow Healing
  • Frequent Infections
  • Areas of Darkened Skin

Symptoms can come on slowly and it may even take years to get properly diagnosed. If you notice any of these symptoms consult with your physician right away.

 

Treatment:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Exercise
  • Blood Sugar Monitoring
  • Diabetes Medication - such as pills or insulin therapy.
