Sugar Medical Diabetes Bag Review | The Diabetic Journey

Sugar Medical Diabetes Bag Review

I had the opportunity to try out Sugar Medical’s Avalon diabetes bag. I received a complimentary bag for a review and all opinions expressed in this post are my own.

I’ve been recently looking around for products to help manage my diabetes and came across this amazing company. Sugar Medical was launched in 2009 by a family affected by diabetes. Their mission is to create fashionable, yet functional bags for people with diabetes. What I like the most about Sugar Medical is that they aim to customize bags that suit specific needs and lifestyles. With my lifestyle, being organized and comfortable is what I desire the most.

Avalon

The Avalon diabetes bag is designed to use with the Omnipod insulin pump system. I use the Omnipod PDM, so this bag definitely caught my eye. The bag is the perfect size and has a fun, appealing design. The bag tightly secures the PDM in place, only without any gel skin. I normally don’t use the gel skin protector, so that wasn’t a problem.

The mesh pocket area is able to contain an extra pod, lancets, or other essentials. My favorite aspect of the bag is the elastic loops where I can place my insulin vial, batteries, lancing device, and test strips. I’m also happy that there is a front pocket area (which I feel is important) so that I’m able to place my medical ID, drivers license, and phone.

I’m very pleased with the Avalon diabetes bag for its style and functionality. I plan to continue to use their products in the future.

One Drop

One Drop | Diabetes Management

There’s been a lot of talk lately about the diabetes management platform called the One Drop. This diabetes management subscription model has paved the way for easier, more affordable and reliable access to many diabetes needs.

I received a complimentary Chrome kit and had the opportunity of trying it out for a few weeks before giving a review.

This platform offers:

Unlimited test strips and 24/7 in-app Certified Diabetes Educator support – all for $40 a month.

The One Drop is not covered by insurance. This is a direct-to-consumer service. You will pay roughly around the same that you currently pay with insurance by copayment. But now you don’t have to deal with the hassle of getting test strips approved.

The One Drop offers a free award winning application to manage your diabetes. You can Download One Drop for iOS and Android, You can track all of your information in one place: glucose, meds, food, activity.

What I Like About The One Drop Management System:

  1. The glucose meter is slick, shiny, and easy to store.
  2. The app is easy to use and gives me insight on how I’m managing throughout the day
  3. Having the option of unlimited test strips gives me flexibility. I no longer to worry about running low on test strips.
  4. I have online support for any questions I may have using the product and how to better process the information that I receive.

The customer management team has been very helpful in assisting me on setting up my account on the app and syncing my bluetooth meter. Once they were both paired, it was easy to keep track of all my readings directly on my phone.

The glucose meter is very accurate and glucose reading corresponds to the ones that I receive on my CGM and compare to other glucose meters that I currently have. I would highly recommend this product for anyone needing a positive change at a lower cost.

Cherise Diabetes Handbag By Myabetic

Most recently I kindly received one the newest products by Myabetic called the Cherise Diabetes handbag. Myabetic is a fashion brand that designs wallets, cases, and purses highly suitable for managing diabetes while catering to one’s individual style.

In the past, I’ve tried a variety of different handbags from well known brands, ranging from low to high cost. But I’ve never been able to find one that suits my individual needs and lifestyle. I’ve never been able to keep myself well organized or find exactly what I need without some difficulty.

This Cherise Diabetes Handbag has been the first handbag that I not only admire for its look but for its durability and convenience. I can fit everything I need in just one purse. It has (3) separate compartments, with durable zippers, and the compartments are different sizes so I can differentiate between the locations of my items.

The shoulder strap is a HUGE plus because it can be adjusted and I never need to put the handbag down when I’m out somewhere. Whenever I need to grab glucose tabs or my blood sugar monitor, it’s easily accessible for my convenience. The purse is very compact and I feel a lot more confident and comfortable knowing I have everything I need.

The Cherise Diabetes Handbag comes in a variety of colors. I chose to go with the charcoal color because it matches everything I normally wear. But once I move in a couple months to a sunnier state, you can bet I’m going to have to get the (blush) and (paradise blue) for the beach. The handbag also comes in (black) which I think would be perfect for work.

In the handbag I carry my phone, wallet, keys, makeup, and of course my diabetes supplies and essentials. Normally in the past, I’ve had trouble finding what I need. But this handbag makes it so much easier and I don’t feel like I’m lugging around a huge suitcase everywhere I go.

Right now you can get 15% off your next purchase with code: THEDIABETICJOURNEY

I would give this handbag 5 stars because it meets all my needs and expectations. I’m happy to have found this brand and will shop from there in the future.

Disclosure: I received a free Cherise Myabetic Handbag from Myabetic in exchange for a review on the blog.  All thoughts and opinions expressed in this blog post are my own.
