Pharmaceutical Companies Are Robbing Diabetics Of More Than Just Money

Today, as a fill my pump with insulin, I think to myself how grateful I am for this life-saving medicine. For without it, I wouldn’t be here. This life that I’ve grown accustomed to is normal to me. Normal in a chaotic way. I go through the motions every day and manage as best as I can. I would say that I’m blessed for having insurance now because I’ve gone many years without it. But my future is still hindered by all the costs associated with this disease.

There’s now an uproar with pharmaceutical companies continuing to raise prices to profit off of people like me, sick people, desperate people. How much more can we take? I don’t want to be a sheep and follow the herd anymore in this crooked system. I don’t want to be a cash cow and have insulin dangling over my head. I’m a human being and reality really sets in when you don’t know how you’re going to afford to survive. When it feels like you’re never going to get ahead in this life when the costs keep piling on. This disease that I never asked for and couldn’t have prevented is taking everything I’ve got and more.

They are taking our pain and misery and profiting from it. They are adversely taking our peace of mind and putting a price tag on it. Stripping us bit by bit and causing us more grief that this disease causes already. Making us feel trapped, helpless, and vulnerable. We live in fear of what if we lose our job, or we have to choose between our medicine and other essential needs in this world. We can’t live this way. Our quality of life is greatly diminished. Something needs to change!

Pharmaceutical companies should have price cap regulation in place. What they’re doing should be as much illegal as it is immoral. By raising costs to raise their profits with life-supporting medicines, is devastating. Let’s take a stand and help make a change. Our voices should be heard.

The pharmaceutical companies are not only taking our money but devaluing our well being.
